A Bay Area convenience store sold a winning lottery ticket worth over $1 million in the latest Powerball drawing, the California Lottery reported Sunday.

The 7-Eleven store at 5148 Moorpark Ave. in San Jose sold one lucky player a ticket with 5 out of 5 winning numbers, worth an estimated $1,238,940 for the ticket holder, before federal taxes, according to Russ Lopez, a spokesman for the lottery.

The five winning numbers were 13, 23, 32, 35, and 68.

The winning ticket missed the bonus Powerball number, 21, needed to claim the full $198 million jackpot. One ticket was sold with all six winning numbers in Hendersonville, Tennessee, according to that state’s lottery officials.

Anduanem Beny, the manager of the 7-Eleven that sold the ticket in San Jose, said one of his employees told him about the news Sunday morning. He said it’s the first time that store sold a major winning ticket in the lottery.

The retailer to sell a winning ticket with a prize payment of $1 million or more is entitled to a one-half percent bonus of the prize value, according to the lottery website, which means Beny’s store could be in line for a roughly $6,200 bonus.

Is Beny excited about the store where he works being part of the win?

“Of course, yeah,” Beny said.

The holder of the ticket has 180 days from the day of the draw to contact the state lottery and claim their prize, Lopez said.
