Just about to buy an LG 56 oled and have been researching like mad as am clueless!!

On the owners thread there’s talk of it but don’t have time to read it all!

Should this put me off buying oled? (Family tv for home use)

A 56 OLED? I don’t recognise the model.

Don’t worry about QC issues, you can always send the TV back if it’s faulty.

Had 10 LG panels.

2 were acceptable but not completely free from banding.

Odds are 1 in 5 imo and that is a qualified opinion.

Lots of returns. If youre very picky, my advice is to avoid oled. For now.

This had (has) been my biggest concern in purchasing my oled TV. £2000+ is a lot of money to spend on a TV for most people, and the thought of getting one that is simply unwatchable, and having to return it for a replacement (maybe multiple times) is just so offputting!

Especially as some companies are (generally) OK with it, to a certain extent, but some seem not too keen on the idea of returning it for a replacement, because of screen quality issues.

I bought my LG 65 C7 from Currys, and it arrived on Sunday, but will only be getting the chance to unbox it this evening.

I really, really hope I have a decent set. if it turns out to be a duffer (and the odds quoted above don’t sound good), I might be tempted just to return it for a refund.

I’d be more worried about damage from the 8 month old than anything from the LG factory.

This is a forum for the very pickiest so if you’re not someone after perfection you should take everything here with several grains of salt.

I’ve recently got a LG 55C7. The first thing i did was just watch normal content. Didn’t see anything amiss so thought i had a good one.
The next day i did the torture tests to see exactly if it was a good panel or not.
To my surprise, i have a medium panel. It has three faint yellow/blue tints going across the screen seen on a pure white pattern.
On the 5% IRE pattern i have one/two slight vertical band and a few minor vertical streaks/bands. (not checked since day one and before any standby image/pixel scrubbing)

So you would think it’s going back right?
Wrong, i’m very happy with it!

After testing, I went back and had a full session watching everything and anything. It still blew me away, and i have never seen an image like it.
I accept now and again i might see the (minor) defects. But as long as that’s all they a restricted too, then fine. We on this forum stop watching the content and start just watching the “image”. So any minor fault will bee seen. I chose to find the defects first, so nothing would pop up later. That way i can now relax and enjoy the content. (fingers crossed, still not seen anything in normal content)

I know which areas it could be better (as some people have better panels than mine), but i accept that right now there is nothing else out there to touch the stunning (stunning. ) image the rest of the time.

Please understand, i know some people are not being fussy. Some of the pictures posted are obviously faulty panels, and ARE unacceptable. And those people have every right to a replacement/refund.
